What forms of CBD oil are there?

Before we go into the application of CBD oil, we would first like to give you an overview of what CBD actually is: CBD oil is an extract from the flowers of the hemp plant that is mixed with oil - usually coconut, hemp seed or olive oil. The cannabidiol it contains is one of more than 90 identified cannabinoids. CBD processed into oil exhibits numerous medicinal properties when used and, unlike the long-established THC, has no psychotropic effects.

There is a reason why CBD products have become all the rage in recent years, especially among scientists and are used everywhere. The list of positive properties of CBD oil in use is long. First of all, it helps meet the body's need for healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which support the immune system and play an important role in the proper functioning of the brain, it enriches our diet with phytonutrients. In addition, previous research has shown that CBD oil, when used regularly, can regulate mood, perceived and experienced satisfaction, has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, and also promotes a good night's sleep.

Differences between the use of CBD oil and hemp seed oil

CBD oil, if of good quality, is extracted exclusively from the hemp flower and mixed in a carrier - for example olive oil. Hemp seed oil in particular is, as the name suggests, extracted from the seeds of the plant. This oil has the same properties as the hemp oil extracted from the seeds, but additionally contains cannabidiol (CBD), which has a positive effect on the entire organism by inhibiting inflammatory processes, reducing oxidative stress and preventing cell ageing. Publicly available information points to its anti-cancer, pain-relieving, anti-allergic and anti-fungal effects. In addition, high-quality full-spectrum CBD oils such as those from Lucky Hemp® contain all the other cannabinoids that play an important role in the effect of cannabidiol.

Effects of CBD - what cannabidiol can do for you

The hallmark of CBD oil use is its antipsychotic effect: it is said to relax, calm, reduce anxiety and psychosis. It can be used to combat nausea and vomiting, stimulate appetite and improve metabolism. When used regularly, CBD oil has neuroprotective effects, which is why it is currently being researched to combat psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.

Both products have different uses - in general, CBD oil is used for therapeutic purposes, while hemp seed oil is only used as a supplement to a balanced diet. CBD oil always has an indication of the CBD content for use with 5% or 10%. If you want to buy CBD oil, you should pay attention to this information.

Different uses of CBD oil: 5%, 10%, full spectrum & more

Shops offer raw CBD oils with full spectrum, broader spectrum and isolated cannabidiol for use.

Broad spectrum oils are usually either THC-free or the THC content is reduced to tailor the final product to a specific market. However, it still contains some cannabinoids, terpenes and other compounds.

Full-spectrum, i.e. oils that contain all the active ingredients present in the hemp plant, are slightly more expensive to buy compared to CBD isolates. However, the difference does not stop at the price. The term "full spectrum" is used when the oil carries all cannabinoids and substances of the hemp plant in the oil. In the formulation of full-spectrum CBD oil products, we therefore find additional cannabinoids such as CBG, CBDA, CBN, CBC, traces of THC (less than 0.2%) as well as terpenes and flavonoids. These additional cannabinoids are extremely important because of the synergistic effect (entourage effect), a phenomenon where cannabinoids and terpenes become more active in combination. Full spectrum CBD oil by Lucky Hemp® is produced without any additives. This method allows the full spectrum of cannabinoids including THC, terpenes, flavonoids and chlorophyll to be extracted into the final product. The full spectrum oil is green and has a strong but natural hemp smell.

Besides full spectrum CBD oils, there are also CBD isolate oils available on the market. So what is the difference between one and the other?

Isolates contain only one cannabinoid: CBD. Isolated CBD does not support our diet as well as it does in combination with other phytonutrients. Using even high doses of cannabidiol isolate will never have the same effect as supplementing with full spectrum CBD oil in smaller doses. So the lower price of the isolate is only an apparent saving.

Full spectrum or isolate?

In most cases, for therapeutic use, a full-spectrum CBD oil is the best choice. Research proves that the individual components of cannabis work synergistically - you get better results than using an isolate.

When choosing a CBD oil for personal use, it is generally better to look for a composition that is closer to the natural biochemistry of hemp. Besides CBD, these oils also contain other cannabinoids such as CBDA, CBG, CBGA, CBDV, CBC, CBN.

Before taking CBD: How to choose a good CBD oil?

Today, there are many different CBD oils on the market to buy for use, which differ in their concentration. With CBD oil, it is important to determine the dosage amount, the type of application and to consider the price-quality ratio of the product. The price range of oils available for purchase on the market is wide. One can buy CBD oils on the internet for application that are suspiciously cheap or else expensive. So how can one find a compromise between price and quality?

The quality of CBD oil is influenced, among other things, by the extraction methods and the way it is grown, which can contaminate the preparation with heavy metals, solvent residues or pesticides. It is therefore necessary to find out the exact composition of cannabis oil before buying it, e.g. through a composition analysis carried out by an independent laboratory. The quality of cannabis oil is also guaranteed by the certificates obtained, which confirm the presence of cannabinoids and the safety of the preparation. It should also be remembered that the high price of oils with cannabidiol is no guarantee of equally high quality. At the same time, it is not worth saving money by choosing a cheaper but little-known manufacturer of CBD preparations.

To help you make an informed decision about buying CBD oil, we have prepared some tips for you.

Colour, texture and smell

First and foremost, colour, texture and smell are important - a good CBD oil will have a colour ranging from green, yellowish, dark green to dark brown, a characteristic earthy smell and a liquid, slightly oily consistency. It should be stored in a dark, sealed glass container. Plastic bottles expose the product to loss of its properties.

Extraction process

The second point to look out for is the method of extracting the hemp extract. There are several methods for extracting cannabidiol from hemp: extraction with olive oil, extraction with ethanol and extraction with supercritical CO₂. The gentler methods do not interfere with the biological composition of hemp and preserve all its properties, which is extremely important when ingesting it.

Certification

Another indicator of a good CBD oil is a certificate attesting to the quality of the product. But be careful: the right document alone does not prove anything. The certificate must meet certain conditions: It must be issued by an institute independent of the brand and signed by the person who carried out the analysis. It should also be published on the manufacturer's website. This way you can be on the safe side when using CBD oil. At Lucky Hemp® CBD oils you will find the laboratory reports of the TÜV Süd.

The price of the oil

We all know that quality costs money. Therefore, a significantly lower price for CBD oil than the average on the market should arouse your suspicion. It may indicate that the product has not been tested by independent laboratories and is not certified. Furthermore, it could indicate that the cannabis plant is not organically grown, that the cannabis oil has been extracted using a cheaper extraction method, or that it is simply an isolate and not a full-spectrum CBD oil. Don't fool yourself into thinking that cheap CBD drops are just as effective through use as an oil at a much higher price, which comes from the responsible production process and quality of the raw material.

Manufacturers and reviews

Another clue when buying and using a CBD oil can be the reviews of other customers posted on portals where the review process is overseen by the administration. One such portal is Trusted Shops, a platform that brings businesses and consumers together to build trust and encourage collaboration.

Application & dosage of CBD oil: How to take and dose?

The most important point to consider when using CBD oil is the concentration of the hemp preparation in question. CBD drops should be taken like a medicine, i.e. a certain dose at regular intervals. In other words, the number of milligrams of cannabidiol per day. With some oils, for example, you will find information on the CBD content per drop on the packaging. This is important because the amount of CBD per day can influence the patient's mood and the effect of the CBD hemp oil. When using CBD oil with 20% content, the dosage should initially be lower than with a 5% product.

Once we have determined the dose for taking CBD, it is important to determine the frequency of use. This mainly depends on our convenience and preferences. The higher the dosage of CBD, the less frequently the oil should be taken. Low doses should be taken much more frequently (even every few hours), which keeps the cannabidiol level in the body more or less constant. This is why it is so important to try different doses on yourself to find the right form of treatment for yourself. However, it is also important to remember that a high concentration of hemp oil is not synonymous with higher efficacy. It is also important to remember that the higher the concentration of CBD oil, the lower the content of other cannabinoids that positively influence the effect of the treatment. CBD is not the only cannabinoid that can help you with problems. With a full-spectrum oil, you get a broad spectrum of different cannabinoids when using CBD oil against headaches and co.

The application of CBD oil is very simple. You can take the right amount of oil with a pipette. Then the oil should linger under the tongue. Afterwards, one waits for 60 seconds and could then swallow or spit it out.

CBD oil 5%, 10% or 30% application & dosage - the differences

Basically, you can find CBD oil for use in different CBD containers. You can use any of these oils, but: If you are using CBD for the first time, it can be more pleasant to start using CBD oil with 5 percent CBD content. This way, you can approach it slowly and try it out. For the application of CBD oil, the cannabidiol content does not matter - it is important to slowly get used to the dosage with the desired effect. If you do not feel any effect with a 5 % oil, you can continue the CBD oil application with a 10 % oil.

Why is it better to put oil under the tongue and not swallow it straight away?

This way of applying CBD oil allows for better absorption via the mucous membranes and thus higher efficacy. CBD is absorbed directly into the blood from the mucous membranes under the tongue, so that it can act on the receptors of the endo-cannabinoid system and support our body after only 15 to 20 minutes.

Of course, swallowed oil is also absorbed and enters the bloodstream, but to a much lesser extent. Before it enters the bloodstream, it also has to pass through the digestive system, which significantly reduces the availability of CBD.

By putting the preparation under the tongue, we increase the contact time of the oil with the mucous membranes, and more cannabidiol has the chance to be absorbed this way. So in practice, there are two ways of CBD absorption: directly into the blood via the mucous membranes under the tongue and via the digestive system.

By the way, whether you want to use CBD oil for headaches or against sleeping problems makes no difference in the dosage and application. It is important that you do not expect miracles from CBD oil after a single application. On the one hand, it works differently for each person, on the other hand, it needs some time to achieve an effect. It is best to take the oil regularly so that the CBD level is constant.

Using CBD oil - this is the best way to keep the therapeutic effect constant

Also note that when using CBD oil, tolerance symptoms and a noticeable weakening of the therapeutic effect could occur after some time. In this case, it is worth reducing the dose or taking a break for a few days to get used to the effect of the cannabidiol again.

Often, better results are achieved if the daily dose is spread over 2 or even 4 servings per day. This is due to the different composition - including the ratio of the individual cannabinoids, terpenes and other substances.

  • Alzheimer's disease;
  • Leukaemia;
  • Multiple sclerosis;
  • Diabetes;

Cannabidiol has properties that inhibit the vomiting reflex and strengthen the body and appetite. This is why it is used during chemotherapy, especially as it does not interfere with the therapeutic process itself.

Of course, any attempt to use CBD on chronically ill people should be discussed with a doctor. This is because it is necessary to analyse possible interactions of cannabidiol with medications.

CBD oil: external application on the skin

Among the many valuable effects of CBD oil, its effect not only internally but also externally should be emphasised. It should be noted that hemp oil also has a very good effect on the skin, which is particularly useful for people who suffer from atopic dermatitis, psoriasis or acne, for example. In combination with skin care and processed accordingly, CBD oil can be used for external application for skin problems. The oil intensively nourishes and moisturises the skin and regenerates it at the same time. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory effect, it also protects against other skin diseases. For external use, you should use CBD oil that is specially designed for this purpose.
